Lessons

BEGINNER LESSONS

"Learn to Fence" Beginner - Level 1 Course (8 weeks)

  • A quick and easy 8 week session for those who have never fenced before

  • 8 - 60 minute lessons (8 hours of total instruction time)

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

  • No previous experience required

  • Foil will be taught

  • Youth, teen,  adult, and family (parent and child) groups

  • All fencing equipment is provided for use (mask, jacket, plastron, glove, practice weapon)

  • Learn basic stances, footwork, swordplay - attacks and defences, sparring

  • Join in anytime - on going lessons flexible days and times

  • A separate set of indoor use only gym shoes, long gym pants, and a t-shirt is required

  • Next sessions starting in April (minimum 4 participants to run)

    • Mondays 6:30pm (youth) 7:30pm

    • Tuesday 6pm (youth), Tuesday 7:30pm (youth/teen)

    • Wednesdays 8:30pm

    • Thursday 6pm (youth, Thursday 7pm (Sabre)

    • Sunday 4pm

Beginner - Level 2 Course (8 weeks)

  • A second course continuing from Level 1 course
  • 8 - 60 minute lessons (8 hours of total instruction time)

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday

  • Must have completed the Beginner Level 1 course

  • Foil will be taught

  • Youth, teen,  adult, and family (parent and child) groups

  • All fencing equipment is provided for use (mask, jacket, plastron, glove, practice weapon)

  • Learn basic stances, footwork, swordplay - attacks and defences, sparring

  • Join in anytime - on going lessons flexible days and times

Beginner Private Course

  • 4 - 60 minute private lessons One-on-One sessions with an individual coach
  • For those who want individual attention
  • Includes warm-up, stretches, fitness
  • Learn the basic stances, attacks, defences, sparring, tactics
  • All fencing equipment is provided
  • Flexible times and frequency
  • Foil, Epee, or Sabre
  • A separate set of indoor use only gym shoes, long gym pants, and a t-shirt is required

Kenjutsu - Beginner (8 weeks)

  • Japanese Sword Techniques

  • 1 hour lessons on Sundays

  • Stances, strikes, blocks, kamea, iadio and kata forms

  • No previous experience necessary

  • All equipment provided and Uniform included ($40 value)

  • Minimum age is 14 years old to participate


WEEKLY LESSONS

 

Recreation 1 day/week

  • 1 - 60 minute group lesson/week

  • Emphasis is on recreation and fun

Youth 2 days/week

  • Program for youth (9 to 12)

  • 2 - 60 minute group lessons/week

  • Monday to Saturday

  • Emphasis is on skill development,  fun and competition

 Adult Intermediate 2 days/week 

  • 2 - 90 minute group lessons/week

  • Monday to Saturday

  • Emphasis is on fitness and competition

Adult Advanced 3 days/week

  • 3 - 90 minute group lessons/week

  • Monday to Saturday

  • Emphasis is on athletic development and winning competitions

Kenjutsu Weekly Classes

  • Katori Shinto Ryu, Ono-Ha Itto Ryu and Iadio

  • 60 to 90 minute lessons - Sundays

  • Kata, stances, strikes, blocks

  • Traditional Hakama, Gi, Obi and bokken purchase required

  • Learn the ancient art of Japanese swordsmanship

  • Must take beginner kenjutsu as a pre-requisite


OTHER LESSONS

 

Private Fencing Lessons

  • Customized private lessons

  • Personal one to one lessons or semi private 2+ people

  • Lessons are to be booked with Stanley

  • 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes.

  • Augment your fencing with tactical training against your opponents

  • Learn and refine specific techniques

Spring Break and Summer Day Camps - Full Day or 1/2 Day Camps

  • Full day 9am to 5pm camps for youth and teens - ages 10+

  • Half day are afternoon sessions1pm to 5pm

  • Extended drop off and pick times available for a surcharge

  • A mixture of Fencing, Martial arts, and Yoga activities and instruction

  • Mental and physical skills, games, drills, sparring, and  meditation. 

  • Day camps will run 1  week long.

  • Low student to coach ratio -  Minimum 4 students to run
